Hwy 267, MT

08068_0541While driving toward Wyoming we saw this series of old barns.  While we were taking some photos of them and were attacked by GIANT grasshoppers.  Seriously they were bigger than my hand.

Western Motel, Hwy 267

While on our trip through Montana, we stayed at a variety of locations.  One of them being this savior, the Westen Motel.  A quick story about this place..We were leaving Glacier and totally pumped about everything we had just seen, but incredibly exhausted from the long day.  So we made some PB & J’s for dinner and were on our way out of the park and onto the dark windy road.  There is a lot of open range cattle in this part of the country so we were constantly having to be on the look out for a huge cow in the middle of the road, and there were many. You can’t see them until you are right up on them.

About an hour into the ride I, the driver and so freaking sleepy.  I begin to panic because I can barely keep my eyes open and I am in constant fear I am going to plow through a cow.  I wake Jessica to try to keep me awake, and she herself can barely hold her eyes open.  This battle lasted for about 15 minutes, which seemed like hours and then out of the pitch blackness we see a shimmer.  The Western!!  It took about another 20 minutes to cross the dessert, but it was some of the best sleep I have ever had.

Random black and white

Just had a random roll of black & white processed and was going through and these few grabbed my attention.  The black cat bolted right after we took it’s photo and then the Santa Claus in the passenger seat was just dang creepy.

Jack & Oliver

I talk about Polly all the time on the blog (b/c she’s my baby girl) but never about our two cats, Jack and Oliver.  Jack is a chubby cream-sickle and Oliver is a grey skeleton with perfect posture. Both cats are very lazy, cute but lazy.

temporary hick-ups

My web hosting company has been experiencing some issues, and all of my websites and email were down yesterday and still acting a little squirrelly today. So if you sent me an email and you did not get a response, it means I did not receive the email. Please resend it to me and I will reply and send you a box of chocolates (kidding on the chocolates).

New Year’s Bouldering

It seems that it is becoming a tradition for a group of us to go climbing together on New Year’s.  We have been doing so for the last 4 years.  It was really windy this year and I have been fighting the worst head cold I have ever had, so I wasn’t much up for climbing but I did snap a few photos.  Did I mention how windy it was?  Here is a shot of Neil Craver working a project boulder on Ridges Mountain in Asheboro, NC.

Sunset, Glacier

As we were heading out of Many Glacier the sun was setting and we saw this beautiful dead tree on top of a hill side. I immediately did a U-turn and raced back to see if we could get a better angle of the tree.  We could sort of see if from the road below but the obvious angle was from the top of the “sketchy” rocky hillside.  When I finally got to the top of the hill, I was overlooking the valley with the Swiftcurrent River flowing through it, and it was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen.
